Information Technology

We have a technology suite, equipped with a variety of resources. The use of ICT provides children with the opportunity to extend and develop their learning throughout the all areas of the curriculum. Children will be given the opportunity to use a range of ICT resources, such as cameras, listening devices, computers and iPads, which will motivate them and enhance their learning. It will also give them opportunities to engage in self-directed learning. We have created an environment in which devices and technology are used to support to teaching, helping to explain ideas more clearly, engaging children more effectively without becoming a distracting presence.

Children are encouraged to work around the computers, in pairs and groups. Interactive puzzles, with varying levels of difficulty, stimulate talking among the children, helping to support language development, as well as other skills:

  • Introduces educational skills
  • Spatial and logical skills
  • Prepares children for future computer use
  • Increases self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Boosts problem-solving skills
  • Stimulates language comprehension
  • Improves long-term memory and manual dexterity
  • Promotes social skills, such as turn-taking
